Jimmy Ford
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern

James (Jimmy) Ford is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern who brings trauma-informed care and grounding-based interventions shaped by both his military service and academic training. He is committed to creating a supportive, collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and safe as they begin their journey toward healing and growth.

Jimmy’s background in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Forest Service has deeply informed his passion for working with veterans, first responders, and their families. He also enjoys supporting adolescents and young adults as they navigate life transitions, emotional challenges, and identity development.

Jimmy works with individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, family and relational concerns, and substance use and recovery challenges. He recognizes that many individuals spend years functioning in survival mode and believes that, through compassion, insight, and connection, meaningful healing and lasting growth are possible.

His therapeutic approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Reality Therapy and Behavioral Theory

  • Family Systems

  • Person-Centered and Adlerian approaches

Jimmy focuses on helping clients build emotional awareness, grounding skills, and emotional regulation. He tailors interventions to each client’s unique needs, meeting them where they are while supporting steady progress toward a more balanced and purposeful life. His work emphasizes resilience, connection, and practical tools for lasting change.

Jimmy sees clients in person in Katy, TX under the supervision of Dr. Jodie Bergquist, DPC, LPC-S, LCDC
